End of Year Information for Glade Families
I hope you had a good Memorial Day weekend. In this Gazette, I am including information for families about some end of year logistics:
1. Picking-up your student's belongings/medications if applicable/(and hopefully yearbooks)
2. Returning school materials - library books, schoolbooks or materials belonging to your child's teacher or to the school, instruments(if notified to do so by band instructors)
3. Requesting letter grades (Grades 2-5) optional
4. PTA Executive Board Nominees and Election Information
5. Enrollment information for the 2020-2021 School Year
6. Glade Staff Changes for 2020-2021
On Friday, May 29th, each family will receive an email from their child's teacher detailing any library books and other classroom materials that will need to be returned. In the meantime, if you'd like to verify which library books your child has checked out, Mrs. Weinberg has included directions below that will allow you to do so.
Currently, June 17th is scheduled to be our last day of school. In a normal year, there are several events that we have on the last weeks of school that are different this year. Events that bring our community together are particularly missed this year. An additional end of year routine that we have done for the past several years will look differently this year due to some uncertainty about what school may look like in the fall. We will be notifying families about classroom assignments later in the summer and not as we typically do on the last day of school. Please know that this is not my preference at all, and not something I take lightly. As the situation with Covid19 evolves and we get some more clarity about the structure of school for the fall, we will communicate as quickly and as clearly as possible.
For families who wish to enroll students at Glade Elementary School for the fall, the registration process will begin online on June 1st. The details will be communicated systemically through Find Out First and on the fcps.org website. We will also send reminders at that time.
Finally, in the coming weeks of school, we will continue to provide opportunities for learning and engagement between teachers and students. Google Meets will continue to be scheduled by our classroom teachers and specials teachers also. Our teachers have loved this opportunity. In addition, we will be planning some Spirit Days to celebrate the excellent work of our students, families, and staff during this year. Our 5th grade students have several special celebrations in the works also, and we will give them a good send-off. Walkersville Middle School Staff will also be sharing transition information.
Thank you, families, for continuing to remain engaged and communicating your needs to school staff. We appreciate you.
