Reminder: Holiday Gift Card Drive 🎁
We still need your help to support Kenwood families this holiday season!
With the help of PTA, Kenwood is organizing a gift card drive to support families within our community. With gift cards, families will be able to use the funds at their discretion to get what they need most over the winter break: clothes, toys, groceries, personal care items, etc.
If you are interested in donating, we are collecting Target gift cards in increments of $25. We of course welcome larger donations, but ask that they be provided in $25 increments for ease of distribution. Gift cards can be dropped off in the main office with Danielle Sanders through Thursday, Dec. 14.
If you prefer to give electronically, please send via Venmo to PTA Co-President Greta Schmitt at @greta-p-schmitt with the label "winter giving."
Please contact Ally Adamski at allison.adamski@mpls.k12.mn.us or Keri Mabry at keri.mabry@mpls.k12.mn.us if you have questions or are interested in receiving support over the winter break. Thank you!

Please bring all items to the Kenwood staff lounge by 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13.
Urgent: Application for Educational Benefits Due Next Friday❗
All families should complete the Application for Educational Benefits, regardless of eligibility. These applications help Kenwood to secure Title 1 funding.
Receiving a completed Application for Educational Benefits for 2023-24 from every Kenwood family helps us to secure Title 1 funding if received by Friday, Dec. 15.
If you have not already submitted an application for this school year, please submit one before Dec. 15 at https://LINQConnect.com. Hard copy applications in English and Spanish are available in the main office.
If you're not sure whether you have submitted yet for 2023-24, please email keri.mabry@mpls.k12.mn.us for confirmation. Thank you in advance for your support!
Art Adventure with Mia 🖌️
Seeking "Picture People" Volunteers for March/April classroom visits!
In partnership with the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia) and the generosity of our PTA, we are pleased to be able to offer Art Adventure again this year. This program engages students with artwork from Mia's collection, encourages creativity, critical thinking, and global awareness through in-depth explorations of art across various cultures and periods.
We are still seeking parent/caregiver volunteers to introduce classroom students to a variety of preselected artworks. No art expertise is needed!
This year's theme is Sources of Strength. New volunteers are encouraged to attend a virtual training on working with certain grades (K-3rd or 4th+) as well as an in-person training specific to the artworks. Virtual training is offered several times a month throughout March. In-person training will take place at Mia on Jan. 24 and Feb. 20. Please see the attached schedule for dates and contact Keri Mabry at keri.mabry@mpls.k12.mn.us to register or if you have any questions.
Coming Next Week: Kenwood's New Website
Kenwood's new website launches on Wednesday, Dec. 13.
MPS will be launching new websites for both the district and schools and we are working to ensure that Kenwood's website remains up to date. In addition to the Courier, please check the website calendar moving forward for event dates and information.
