Professional Development on October 12, 2015
October 12th was a beautiful day, an early dismissal day for students, and a great professional development afternoon for teachers. During the afternoon the teachers and Mrs. Koop were engaged in an array of professional development activities to include topics about PARCC testing, classroom management, special education, and instructional practices.
Safety Week
During the week of October 19th, we will celebrate the KRS annual Safety Week. The students will participate a variety of activities with a focus on general safety. We are fortunate to have some incredible guest speakers scheduled to speak to the students. Officer Rybka from the Madison Police Department will speak to the students about Halloween safety and other safety topics, Captain Nunn and the Madison Fire Department will speak about fire safety, Dr. Sirna wil speak to the students about bike safety, and Dr. Haliasos will speak about sun safety. As a culmination to the week, everyone will make a safety pledge on a link of a chain. The safety chain will be displayed in our lobby.
Parent Visitation Days on October 15th and 16th
We are thrilled that parent visitation days are this week and we are looking forward to your visits. Please stop-by in the office first to let us know you are visting. Have a wonderful time with your children and their teachers!
Recess - Outside or Inside?
We do our very best to have the children go outside for recess. Only in the case of inclement weather are the children inside for indoor recess in their classrooms. Please know that we monitor the weather carefully and communicate with the other elementary schools so that we are consisent with them about weather related decisions.
Halloween is Coming!!!
The KRS Halloween parade will occur on Friday, October 30th at 1:15 pm. We will parade through the parking lot twice behind the Madison High School Marching Band. The spectators are a very important part of the day, so please plan on clapping and shouting as the students march by. The parade is always a memorable occasion and a lot of fun. After the parade, the classes will pose on the black-top for pictures, so join us for an excellent photo opportunity. The classes will then return to their classrooms for their parties.
