Week of August 12th
What's Happening?
It's been a wonderful first week of school! Thank you for all you have done at home to help it flow so smoothly.
A couple of reminders:
Any transportation changes need to be in writing.
Students should be asking you to sign their agenda each night. It is there responsibility to bring it to you. Please help them establish this routine.
Choice cards come home on Fridays. Please initial in the parent spot and return it to school on Monday.
Please return empty Friday Folders on Monday as well.
Throughout this year, please feel free to email me if you have any questions or concerns. Email is the quickest way to get in touch with me during the week.
In this week's Friday Folder: Club information letters: Drama, Drawing and I-9 Sports
What are we learning?
Math (Mrs. Lee's Class): multiplication using area models and standard algorithm. Be sure to be reviewing those multiplication facts!
Science (Mrs. Lee's Class): Learning the organelles of plant and animal cells as well as their function in the cell. Students need to be studying their vocabulary cards.
Social Studies: Turn of the Century - explaining and analyzing the importance of the cattle drives during the late 1800s.
Writing: narrative writing - brainstorming
Reading: Writing well about what we read - how to keep good journals as we read
Word Study: di, dif, dis quiz on Friday

*We will be doing activities for these words/roots in class. Students will have a word/definition list in their word study journal. They are expected to bring this home nightly to study. Students will complete an eClass practice quiz on Thursday for homework. The daily grade will be based on understanding of the roots and word definitions.
