NPMHS
To start the new year, all of the NP-MHS clubs and extracurricular activities are planning hard, and working harder.
The boys basketball team is currently undefeated in league games, and 6-4 overall. After a close 62-52 win against Troy at home on Thursday January 4th, the tigers are now preparing for their game against Towanda (in Towanda) on Tuesday, January 9th. The girls basketball team currently stands with a 1-1 record in the league, and a 4-5 record overall. The girls were scheduled to play CV on Friday the 5th, yet the game was cancelled and rescheduled to the 27th. The girls next game is against St. John Neumann Regional Academy tonight, in Williamsport. The Lady Tigers also held their own ‘Christmas Classic’ tournament at NP-MHS, on the weekend of December 28th. The tigers beat Montgomery 56-38 in their first round but took a hard lost against South-Williamsport with a final of 46-27. The team finished second in their tournament, and are ready for next year’s!
This week is the start of Student Council spirit week, where the student body of NP-MHS dresses in a themed attire. Monday is meme-day, Tuesday is tacky tourist day, Wednesday is multiplicity day, Thursday is teacher look-alike day, and Friday is blue and gold day. Each student in each grade that dresses up is counted towards a grade’s total points, and at the end of the week, the grade with the most points wins.
FBLA recently competed in their online tests in Mrs. Keiser's room, and their speaking and in-person tests at Penn-Tech. Many members of the chapter placed, and everyone was proud of the outcome. Throughout the group Cassie placed, 14th in Introduction to Introduction to Business Communication;
Sara placed, 12th in Introduction to Financial Math; Jade placed, 11th in Introduction to Financial Math; Kylie placed, 11th in Advertising; Brenna, Alaina and Katelyn placed, 6th in Marketing; Abby placed, 7th in Introduction to Business; Garrett, Brooke and Cameron placed, 4th in Hospitality Management; Josh placed, 4th in Impromptu Speaking; Riley placed, 4th in Introduction to Public Speaking and Brendan and Brion placed 4th in Banking and Financial Systems. Members that qualified to advance to the state competition were Deja; 4th in Introduction to Business Communication; Alex, 4th in Introduction to Financial Math; Lexa, 2nd in Agribusiness, Shay, 1st in Economics; And the team of Blake and Jake placed 1st in Entrepreneurship. The organization is also planning a day-trip to NYC in an upcoming month for all of the group’s hard work.
Mrs. Steppe, is holding a play of the famous movie ‘Annie’. The class list of roles was posted on December 21st, and the play will be held in March.
