Wamogo Regional High School
January 17, 2018
Message from the Principal
Dear Wamogo Families and Friends,
In an effort to improve our Wi-Fi reliability as well as to promote safe and educationally appropriate internet access, we have made changes to our wireless networking system.
The following outlines these important updates that will impact students and staff at Wamogo. The transition to these updates began on Tuesday, January 16th, 2018.
1. Separate and secured wireless networks for personally owned devices and school-issued devices.
2. A wireless network that uses a PSK (private shared key) procedure for allowing student and staff access to the Wi-Fi without having to compromise password security.
3. Restricting Wi-Fi access to only one device at a time per student.
4. Increased Wi-Fi filtering that will block specific web applications such as Netflix, Hulu, and Snapchat from being streamed through the school's wireless networks.
We believe that these Wi-Fi updates will help to improve the functionality and reliability of the wireless network. Additionally, our goal is to minimize distractions and keep our students safe as they access the digital curriculum and resources for the educational intent.
Additionally, I am very pleased to announce that our high school bathroom renovation project is nearly complete. Before we open the bathrooms, we want to reiterate to all students the importance of respecting the facilities. We have observed some unfortunate acts of vandalism and mistreatment of our bathrooms throughout the course of the year. Our investment in the newly renovated bathrooms should be a source of pride for our school community and I am asking all parents to emphasize the importance of maintaining and preserving our facilities to your students.
As always, thank you for your continued support. Please stay warm and travel safe during this latest round of snowy weather.
Sincerely,
Sabin Loveland
