SPORTS RESULTS
7th Grade Boys Basketball at Home against Garber on 2/5
Our A Team hosted the Garber Dukes. The first half was not our best effort, but after regrouping at halftime , the team displayed great fight and roared back before falling 29-41. Cal McFadden led the way with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Bo Galbraith added 3 points, and he and Ethan Wenzel demonstrated many outstanding hustle plays in the second half.
8th Grade Boys Basketball at Home against Garber on 2/5
Hemlock played Garber last night in a tough loss. Blake Willman and Kellan Schultz carried the load on offense scoring 12 a piece. Roman Smith also added 6 points on two late threes in the game. Huskie loss 35-52.
7th Grade Boys Basketball at Home against Freeland on 2/7
Both A and B teams visited the Freeland Falcons and despite losing both games, played absolutely outstanding and displayed great improvement through constant hustle and metal focus. Andrew Reid was the leader for the B squad, scoring 6 points in a tight loss. Wesson Graves hit a timely three pointer to give a the Huskies a great chance at snagging the upset.
The A team lost 27-34 to the one loss Falcons. It was a great game throughout, the difference being the final :42 of the first half, as Freeland scored 8 unanswered points in that duration. Cal McFadden dropped in 14 points and collected 12 rebounds, while Ethan Wenzel added 5 points as he, Mason Miller, and Kaiden Knapik did outstanding at limiting Freeland’s offensive flow through tremendous defensive effort and discipline throughout the game. Jackson Atkinson and Paxton O’Dell each scored a bucket in the contest.
8th Grade Boys Basketball at Freeland on 2/7
The 8th grade B team faced the Freeland Falcons last night in the first of two games. The Huskies were held scoreless in the first but then Roman Smith decided it was time for hemlock to take over the game, scoring 8 of his 15 total points in the second quarter. Leading the Huskies on an 18-2 run going into halftime. The second half of the game was a battle, but the Huskie defense stood tall with Tristyn Church, Jayden Polom, and Isaiah Steinert playing outstanding defense. Hemlock secures another Win, 34-26.
In the second game of the night, our Huskie A team also competed with the Falcons. Blake Willman and Kellan Schultz looked like prime Kobe and Shaq the way they were playing. Willman had a season high 25 points and Schultz was one point shy of a triple double, scoring 9 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and a season high 10 blocked shots. Sam Dunton and Markus Plowden were doing the dirty work on the boards grabbing half of the teams rebounds on the night. In the fourth, Bentley Baumer decided it was time to squash any hope of a comeback, handing the pressure calm and cooler than the other side of a pillow and dribbling out the clock. Another one bites the dust. Husky win 37-29, bringing them to 9-2 on the season (A team 7-2, B team 3-0).

HUSKIE HEALTH WITH NURSE BECKY
Super Bowl and CPR
What does football have to do with heart health you ask? Keep reading to find out. On Monday, February 5th, we had Mary Kraft from the American Heart Association do a presentation to each class on ways to keep our hearts healthy. She also encouraged the kids to learn Hands-Only CPR with their families. According to the CDC, "More than 356,000 people have an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the United States every year,1 and about 60% to 80% of them die before reaching the hospital". On January 2, 2023, the world watched as Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest on live TV. The athletic trainer jumped into action and started CPR. It is because of his quick actions and early defibrillation that Damar is still with us today. Now his life mission is for everyone to learn hands-only CPR. Click on this link to read an article on the positive ripple effect that has resulted from this. Then, take the time to register your child by logging on to the American Heart Challenge. If you complete Finn's mission and learn Hands-Only CPR, your child will be entered into a drawing to win 2025 Super Bowl Tickets
Get your raffle tickets before they are gone!
