MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Performing Arts
Congratulations to our amazing Year 3 and 5 Dancers who last Thursday night performed two brilliant dances. Both were so entertaining; very well-choreographed and led by the wonderfully talented Mrs Muir! The costumes were made by our incredibly hard working parents, which helped to showcase the outstanding talent here at St Luke’s. It was a credit to everyone involved and I know the children enjoyed entertaining the very large audience in attendance. A special thank you to all the staff who helped prepare and supervise the children backstage and for turning up and watching in support.
On behalf of the Performing Arts Festival, it is with great pleasure that we announce that St Luke's are the recipients for the following awards:
OUTSTANDING: St Luke's Year 5's
EXCELLENCE: St Luke's Year 3's
Congratulations again to all involved! We will wait for more information regarding performing at the Festival Concert at a later date. Please watch this space!
One Big Voice
First Communion Masses
I would like to congratulate our 62 Year 4 students who have made their First Holy Communion. The children were very reverent and very well-prepared working closely with their teachers and parents. Thank you to Mrs Main, Mr Plint and Sacramental coordinator Mrs Dastlik, for preparing the children so well. It would be wonderful to see all of our Year 4 children attend Mass this weekend to receive Communion with the parish community.
Book Week
Thank you to all the children and staff who dressed up for our Book Week parade on Tuesday. Reading is alive and well at St Luke’s! Thank you to Mrs Simmonds for coordinating the parade and book fair; Mrs Muir and Year 4 for the fabulous dance; and Mrs McIntyre and Mrs Humphries for being our entertaining MCs. Well done to all our parents too- who did an incredible job with the children's costumes. There was so much joy and creativity on display. Bravo!
Kindergarten
Just a friendly reminder, 3 Year Old Kindy places for 2022 is filling really fast. Please make sure you have completed an enrolment form for 3 Year Old Kindy and returned this to the office ASAP. Our 60, 4 Year Old Kindy places for 2022 are now full with a waitlist of 21 families wanting to enrol at St Luke’s.
A reminder to families who have their child currently in 4 Year Old Kindy that the bubble classes will continue for Pre Primary next year and then Year One onwards. A new classroom for Year 1 and then Year 2 will commence next year to accommodate the three classes for the start of 2023. The new Principal, once announced, will also honour this arrangement.
Father's Day
On Friday, 3 September our school will honour our superstar Dads, Grandfathers and significant male figures in our children’s lives with a cooked bacon and egg breakfast from 7.30am. After a well-deserved breakfast we invite our dads to visit their child’s classroom before returning for a Fathers’ Day assembly. The P&F are actively looking for mums who are available to help out in the morning from 6.30-7.00am. If you are available please let a member of the P&F know. I look forward to seeing you all there.
Respectful Relationships
This term I have had a few conversations that highlighted the importance of respectful relationships in building and maintaining a strong community here at St Luke’s. I really believe that every interaction is an opportunity to build a positive culture within our school and model our school values. Every conversation, especially difficult ones, should be respectful and mindful that we are all working towards a common goal – to help and support our students and children to become good people in a big, wide world.
Before school one day this week I had a conversation with a Mum about something that had happened at recess the day before. This was a difficult conversation for her to have; however, she was honest, kind, and calm and it was obvious that she wanted the best for all the students involved. These are important discussions to have, and it is important that we hold each other to account in the way we speak and act in these moments.
God Moments
- Seeing all the children, staff and parents smiling and enjoying themselves at the Book Week Parade.
- The Year 4 Wadjuk Noongar iMovies were BRILLIANT- if you get a chance, ask one of our Year 4's to show you their work, you won't be disappointed!
