Dr. Major's Bio
Dr. Angelia Major has over 18 years of experience in public education, all devoted to serving Title 1 schools. She joined the Clarke County School District in 2019 as Assistant Principal at W. R. Coile Middle School and more recently served as Assistant Principal at Clarke Central High School.
The bulk of Dr. Major’s tenure has been with the DeKalb County School District. As a teacher, lead of special education services, and instructional support specialist she served integral roles; resulting in significant gains in CCRPI in all schools that she led. Dr. Major also engaged in school turnaround work that resulted in increases in multiple settings. Most notably, an increase in CCRPI yielded a 22 point gain (59.6 to 81.6) in one particular school. She also served as the lead of special education services for the Department of Juvenile Justice and Georgia Preparatory Academy.
Dr. Major received her Doctor of Education (Ed.D) credential in Teaching & Learning from the University of Argosy, Master’s degrees in Special Educational from Grand Canyon University, and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from American Intercontinental University.
Dr. Major enjoys spending quality time with her family. Her husband Dalthan, and children Alexis, Joshua, and Anthony. Her family has always been the motivational factor to push her to do more and be great at everything she sets her heart on.
Dr. Major states, “I am humbled and very excited to join the Classic City team. I look forward to continued collaboration with teachers, staff, and the community at large to suit rigorous academic expectations and the best interests of all students.”
