Weekly Update
Week of January 9, 2023
JAMS Families/Familias de JAMS,
We are back in full swing and have our first full week of classes this week. We have 112 7th graders in Yosemite, clubs start this week and students are taking the Star Reading and Star Math tests. Teachers are working collaboratively on differentiating lesson plans and finding additional ways to connect with students and meet their diverse academic and social emotional needs. The beginning of the semester is a good time to sit with your child and/or as a family and review school routines such as preparation for school, organization skills, sleep hygiene, homework and reading routines, and rules and expectations for screen time. As always we will have Cafecito on Friday morning from 8-9 am in front of the school - hope to see you there.

Parent Education Night - The Courage to Change
The Courage to Change: Academic supports in school and at home to support your child.
Dr. J and Melvyn, authors of the newly published The Parent’s Playbook, will join the JAMS PTSA for a very special conversation sharing their insights on how we can all support our children to reach their best in school, on the field, and in life!
Join us on Thursday, January 12th after the PTSA meeting at 7 pm in the library.
Four books will be given out at the event through an opportunity drawing!
PTSA Annual Giving/Donación Anual a PTSA
We are writing to ask for your help. Only 8% of JAMS families have donated to our PTSA this school year, but our budget relies on annual parent donations. Did you know that the largest ticket item in the PTSA budget is the money we allocate for teachers to purchase classroom supplies? But we also fund staff appreciation, campus beautification, library tutors, field trips, community building events, the theater program, and more.
PLEASE consider making a donation to JAMS PTSA that is meaningful to your family. The suggested amount is $365 per child - that's just $1 per day to improve your child's educational experience. If you can't make a large one-time donation, please consider a monthly donation, such as $10 or $20. Donate today at: SUPPORT JAMS! If you aren't sure if you already donated, or if you have creative ideas for fundraising, please contact Alison Havel at alisonliz@yahoo.com.
From the Attendance Office/De la Oficina de Asistencia
What to do if your child is leaving early
Parents, please let us know first thing in the morning if your child will be leaving school early. Students may only leave campus early when excused by the office. Kindly fill out the online attendance form (on the website under “Find It Fast” or here) or send your child with a handwritten note to give to the attendance office before the start of school.
