Do you know the 9 most important things about South's CCC? To find out, check out Tools for the Future, a video-slide presentation by college and career center coordinator, Lori Sauter. Here are the slides from Lori's presentation with live links to the resources she shares.
And what are these College & Career Center projects people keep talking about? Well, they're a requirement for all 9th, 10th, and 11th graders as part of their Personalized Learning Requirement on their transcripts, but more importantly, they are a huge help to students in brainstorming options for their future. Learn more here.
**5) SENIOR PROJECT OPTIONS**
Career and Technical Education at South
South offers many CTE courses which promote career and life skill building in different subject areas. These courses may be taken individually, or students may pursue multiple CTE courses in the same subject area as a way to complete their Extended Application graduation requirement. Visit our CTE brochure for more information.
International High School (IHS) Pathways to Graduation
The Senior Experience
Classic (non-IHS) South students who are not on a CTE path complete the Extended Application graduation requirement by undertaking a Senior Experience. Last year's and this year's seniors were granted some grace with regard to their Extended Application requirement due to the pandemic, but this year's freshmen and sophomores should expect to complete it. They will receive more information about the Senior Experience during the spring of their junior year.
**6) EARNING COLLEGE CREDIT IN HIGH SCHOOL**
6a) College Now Courses at South
What is College Now?
College Now is an agreement that allows area high school students to earn Lane Community College credits for approved courses taken at their high school and taught by specifically qualified high school teachers.
LCC Credit for College Now Courses
Receiving LCC credit is not automatic. Students need to register for the courses through LCC and earn a B- or higher. Kathy Ruggles, SEHS' College Now liaison, assists with registration during class time in College Now classes, or you can register here for LCC credit instead.
Warning
Keep in mind that LCC credits earned through College Now count towards the Oregon Promise Grant's credit maximum.
