Loggerhead Turtles are endangered
by: Hattie Haines
Loggerheads a.k.a. Caretta carette
Loggerhead sea turtles nest on the islands and beaches in N.C. Bald Head Island is the largest loggerhead nesting area in our state.
Why are they endangered
The main reason sea turtles are endangered are because of coastal development, egg predators, city lights, fishing, and general human disturbances. There are many groups dedicated to protecting the turtles and making sure they make it to the sea. This is a great help in the efforts to protect the turtles!
