Celebrating our 2nd Quarter ROCKStars
On Friday, February 3rd, we celebrated the 274 students at Scott that had no behavior referrals for the entire 2nd quarter.
Students and teachers were invited to the gym to play Medic. Mr. Altland and Mrs. Lamothe joined in the fun as well as as the teachers. Students played in small groups with their classes. A great time was had by all. We are so proud of the students that continue to follow our Scott expectations of Respect, Ownership, Courage, Kindness, and Safety. We are hoping to celebrate with even more students next quarter!
Report Cards are Available in Home Access Center
Second Quarter report cards are now available in Home Access Center. If you need to create your account or forget your login information, please see the documents below.
Black History Month and Kindness Month
February is an important month. We celebrate the accomplishments of the many Black Americans that have impacted our history. Each morning on the announcements students are learning about a new person. Teachers are invited to share more information with students throughout the day. On Friday, a trivia question is asked about the announcements from the week. Students with the correct answers are put into a drawing for a small prize. Congratulations to Rowan Campbell who was this week's winner. He was one of many students who knew that Carter G. Woodson was the man who started the celebration of Black History.
February is also Kindness Month. Our Mental Health Fair on January 27th started conversations with students about kindness, empathy and feelings. Throughout this month we will be focusing on kindness and rewarding our students for their kind actions. Staff will be keeping an extra eye to catch our students being kind and giving them ROCKStar tickets for it.
Scott Star Students for January
On Tuesday morning, ten Golden Tickets were pulled from our Golden Ticket box in the main office. The following students were given the choice of a holiday donut or an ice cream sandwich at lunch.
We want to congratulate Marquise Warner, Dennis Ewing, Jace Liethead, Luis Garcia, Emma Lynn Beam, Trey Anderson, Meisha Waller, Serenity Hoffman, Ebelyn Barrio, and Lesley Pedroza.
Keep up the great work ladies and gentlemen. We are so proud of your hard work having respect, ownership, courage, kindness, and safety. You are ROCKStars!
January's Student of the Month
Congratulations to Lesley Pedroza, our Student of the Month for January. Lesley had many golden tickets in our golden ticket box from all different teachers. Lesley works hard in all of her classes. She participates and does her best. Lesley is kind and helpful to other students, and is always following our ROCKStar expectations of respect, ownership, courage, kindness and safety.
Lesley, continue to work hard. We are so proud of you!
Employee of the Month for January
Congratulations, Mrs. Lydon! Mrs. Lydon received a banner to hang in her classroom, and she will be featured in our front hall of fame on the main floor. Mrs. Lamothe will also be washing her car. Mrs.Lydon is new to our Scott family this year and she has made quite an impression. She is our Family and Consumer Science (FCS) teacher. Mrs. Lydon is always smiling and sharing her positive energy with students and staff around the building. She works hard to build relationships with students and engage them in her lessons as well as support them to make good decisions outside of class. Mrs. Lydon is a team player and is often seen supporting her colleagues as well. We are so lucky to Mrs. Lydon as part of our Scott family.
Mr. Handerhan, Mrs. Mochulski, and Ms. Gushanas were runners up this month. They received Wawa gift cards to treat themselves to something special as well.

Cell Phone Usage at Scott
We have many students taking their phones out during class and refusing to put them away. We have students taking their phones with them to the restrooms and making bad decisions. We also have students using their phones to take pictures and/or videos of students and staff without their knowledge. Many of these actions are receiving suspensions as a consequence.
Our district policy at the secondary level states that a student's phone should be off and away unless a teacher has allowed for the phone to be in use. It also states that a student should put the phone away or turn it over when asked.
Moving forward at Scott, if administration has to get involved with a student using a cell phone inappropriately or refusing to put it away, the privilege to be able to have it on them during the day will be taken away. Students will either be asked to keep their phone at home or turn it into the main office at the beginning of the day, and retrieve it at the end of the day.
This is only for students whose cell phone usage is a problem. We can no longer tolerate the disruption, disrespect and distraction that cell phones are causing for these students.

Nurse's Corner
Just a couple reminders to families:
- Students should not be contacting families to be picked up when they are not feeling well. Students need to be assessed by the nurse and calls home will be made as needed. If families want to be called each time their student comes to the nurse, please email Ann Keenan, school nurse (keenana@casdschools.org). It is not standard practice to call home for non-urgent matters.
- Emergency Health Forms were sent home last week (lime green). If you did not complete the Emergency Health Information online, you must complete the paperwork and return it to the school nurse.
- Covid 19 is still causing illness and absences. Please continue to test and take precautions to avoid further spread. 5 days of isolation followed by 5 days of well-fitting masks is the current CDC guideline. (see below).
- The school nurse will be starting health screenings (Vision, Growth and Scoliosis). If your student has glasses, please make sure they have them for school.
