PINE HOLLOW MIDDLE SCHOOL

Monday, September 17, 2018

Dear Pine Hollow Parents,

I hope you and your family had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend and are excited for Week 6 of the school year! This week we will be distributing progress report cards for students who are struggling with their grades. This is a good reminder for all families to check HomeLink to see what assignments your child still needs to complete, and to get a feel for their overall progress. If you ever have questions about grades or assignments, please check in with your child, review their student planner, and contact their teacher for more information. Thanks and have a great week! Best,

Ben Campopiano

Principal, Pine Hollow Middle School

Safety Alerts

Earlier today we sent out information regarding the situation involving Clayton Valley Charter High School. In order to ensure that you always receive critical safety alerts please:

Student Hit in Crosswalk

Last week, one of our students was hit by a car while riding their bike in the crosswalk at the intersection of Pine Hollow Road and Pennsylvania Boulevard. Thankfully, the student is okay, and suffered only minor injuries. We are working on setting up meetings with city of Concord and the Concord Police Department to review what happened, and discuss concerns about traffic safety along Pine Hollow Road. The street is busy, there's lots of kids around, and the sidewalks, signage, and lane lines need revamping.

This is a good reminder to drive slowly along Pine Hollow and in our parking lot, to stay off your phone, to follow staff instructions, and to avoid u-turns in front of schools. It's also a good time to talk to your child about traffic safety, particularly reminding them to make eye contact with drivers before crossing streets.

Finally, on October 17, we will be hosting the "Walk and Roll to School" event to help students focus on and learn more about traffic safety. You can click here for the event flier, and click here for more information about Street Smarts Diablo which is brought to you by 511 Contra Costa.

National Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month

September is National Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month. At Pine Hollow, we want to reach out to those in the greatest need, and connect them to care and support. While suicide prevention is important to address throughout the year, Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month provides time to come together collectively regarding a complicated topic. We can all benefit from open conversations about suicide and mental health, because just one conversation can change a life. Please visit our Counseling and Care Team page on our website for more information and support.
