MTSS AND YOU
To support our district vision that every Springtown Intermediate School student is unique and capable of achieving their own academic and life goals, our district provides high-quality core instruction for every student, as well as additional learning opportunities for those who may need more support.
A three-tiered system of intervention, referred to as Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), is designed to help teachers focus on providing high-quality learning opportunities that are matched to students’ needs and monitored on a frequent basis to ensure successful outcomes. Tier 1 consists of core instruction delivered to all students. Tier 2 consists of targeted group intervention for students not making adequate progress with core instruction alone. Tier 3 includes customized, more intense interventions, delivered in addition to core instruction.
Several times a year, each student at Springtown Intermediate is given screening assessments to determine math and reading performance. The score reports showing student progress were sent home with your student on 1/11/22. If your student’s scores indicated he/she may benefit from additional support in reading and/or math, your student will now be receiving Tier 2 or Tier 3 interventions during the school day. This new support possibly changed your student's schedule in order to provide the best opportunity for your student to succeed. Your child’s progress will be monitored every 2-4 weeks in intervention. Additional assessments may be completed in order to guide instruction and intervention. It is our goal to provide the best instruction and materials to help your student succeed. Students who show measurable progress in intervention can be exited from intervention at the end of a 8-10 week period of targeted instruction. Progress would be meeting SMART goals set in intervention, passing core classes, and achieving required results on unit exams. When your child’s performance is similar to their on-track peers for several weeks, we will notify you of the next steps and discuss when the intervention will be discontinued.
ABSENT NOTESSIS takes attendance EVERY period. Please remember to have your child turn in any absent notes to the office or you may email them to email@example.com.
ATTENDANCE AND COVID
We encourage you to continue to monitor your student for symptoms of Covid-19! If your student is symptomatic or Covid positive, please call the school office and let us know. While we encourage parents to reach out to teachers to avoid their child getting behind in class, we understand that each situation is different. Students get one day for each day they are absent to complete any make-up work.
