A message from our principal
At this morning’s Prayer Service, we recognized students for academic achievement and two young men who were presented the Christ Bearer awards by our School Advisory Council’s Vice Chairperson, Mrs. Anne Bloesser.
This afternoon, we prayed the World Mission Rosary. Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen initiated the World Mission Rosary in 1951. He saw the need for us to pray not just for ourselves, but for the whole world, and especially for those who are poor and vulnerable at home and around the world. The fifth through eighth graders led the Holy Rosary with each Mystery and decade represented by a different color. Each decade calls to mind an area where the Church continues her evangelizing mission.
Additionally, your teachers sent home student scores for the IOWA and CogAT standardized tests administered in September.
In today’s Gospel, there is a theme about possessions and what it is that God values.
Jesus responds, in his direct response to one of the members of the crowd, as well as in his parable, is clear that possessions and keeping one’s harvest is not the mentality that we as Christians are invited to live out.
“Take care to guard against all greed, for though one may be rich, one’s life does not consist of possessions.”
Many of us understand that what is really important in life is not our possessions. As reflective people, we may agree that family, health, love and even the opportunity to be alive today are all greater gifts.
Where, in our daily life today, might there be an invitation from God, to turn our focus away from valuing possessions?
