Thompson Friday Forecast
May 31, 2019
From the Principal...Steve Morrill
The last day of school is Friday, June 7th. This will be a full day of activities from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. And a reminder that the first day of school next year is Wednesday, August 14, 2019!
END OF THE YEAR ACTIVITIES
8th graders will be participating in a myriad of celebration/transitional activities including a boat trip on Lake Michigan on June 4th and a PTO sponsored party on Friday, June 7th! Make sure your child brings sunscreen on both of these days!
6th and 7th graders are headed to the Arcada to see a movie related to their language arts curriculum. Our STRIVE students are going to the Shedd Aquarium. And there are many team activities planned as well.
As we finish this school year, I challenge the 8th graders to be the best they can be and represent Thompson in a great light during your high school years and beyond. The high schools are looking forward to working with these students as well as our parent population. Parents, I know you will continue to be involved in your children's education.
We are all focused on ending the school year strong!
Enjoy your weekend!
~Steve
SAVE THE DATE! Fox Mill 5K & Color Run Honoring Kayla Lehmann
Please join us for the Fox Mill 5K & 1-Mile Color Run/Walk on September 7, 2019 honoring Thompson graduate Kayla Lehmann. Kayla, who passed away on April 7, 2018, was a St. Charles East freshman who was passionate about music while also being an avid reader and gifted writer.
Proceeds from this year's race will benefit Kayla's Hope (www.kaylashope.org), a foundation that seeks to take away the stigma of depression and mental illness so that no one has to suffer in silence. For more information, to register, or to make a donation, please visit www.foxmill5k.com.

Notes from the Nurse
Do not forget to pick up all medications by the last day of school. Those medicines not picked up by an adult by June 7th by 3:45 pm will be disposed of. No medication will be released to students unless a previously signed self-administration form is on file (Epi Pens or inhalers). All medication orders must be renewed each school year. Forms are available on the district web site under “Parents”, then “forms” or by contacting the health office.
The health offices are closed during the summer months. I will return for limited hours beginning in August. Please contact me if there are new medical concerns for your child. Appointments for the required 6th grade and 9th grade physicals tend to fill up quickly and should be scheduled now! Please turn in paperwork as it is completed. Physicals are required to be submitted for review prior to the first day of school.
Have a healthy summer!
