Charles Manson Trial
Charles Manson and three other members of the group known as The Family were charged with 7 counts of murder and 1 count of conspiracy.
Manson and the other members of The Family violently murdered 7 people. Manson was the mastermind behind all the murders but was involved himself in the murders of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca. He was convicted and sentenced to death.
Furman vs. Georgia
The death penalty is ruled as a cruel and unusual punishment and is outlawed.
The ruling caused Manson's sentence to be reduced to life in prison.
