Superintendent of Schools
An update from Dr. Brian Harris: March 12, 2020
Dear Barrington 220 Community:
As the situation surrounding the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues to evolve on a daily basis, I want to inform you about our updated plans to keep our students and staff healthy.
At this point, Barrington 220 has no known cases of COVID-19 in our school community. However, as a precautionary measure, we have decided to cancel the following:
All foreign and domestic travel for school sponsored spring break trips
All large district sponsored events from March 13 through spring break (Principals will communicate those cancellations)
K-8 parent/teacher conferences scheduled for March 18 and 19
Schools will remain open on Friday, March 13. However, in the event that Barrington 220 must close its buildings, we are ready to implement our Distance Learning Plan (click here to see FAQs), which was approved by the Board of Education in October 2019.
In the event that we must close our schools, please make sure students are bringing home their devices, chargers and any materials they would need to complete assignments. All K-12 students, including kindergarteners, will use their devices in the event of a closure.
I will send another communication tomorrow (March 13), as this situation is changing by the day.
As a reminder, you can find all Barrington 220 updates and resources on our dedicated Coronavirus webpage. Thank you for your understanding and for working with us, as we all do our part to prevent the spread of this virus in our community and continue to educate our students.
