Welcome Back Social
Join us outside for a meet and greet in our back playground, garden, and field space. We will have a cool treat for your enjoyment and will have several classroom doors open for you to take a sneak peek inside. Preschool and Early Childhood classes will be able to see their room from the outside entrance. If you are a new Lower Elementary student, you may want to sign up for a tour.
If you would like to sign up for a quick guided tour of your hallway, please fill out the form below to reserve a space. Due to Covid restrictions, we will not be having visitors to our building. Having a reservation is the only way to be admitted into the building.
We need GREAT people!
Asheville City Schools has several instructional assistant vacancies at the elementary level for the 2021-2022 school year. Visit https://www.applitrack.com/asheville/onlineapp/default.aspx for details.
These positions are full time positions with benefits (i.e. state retirement, sick days, paid time off, health insurance, and access to supplemental insurance). The best part is you have the opportunity to have a positive impact on children every day.
Please feel free to email Tima or Susanna if you are interested. We have both full and part time job openings on our campus for instructional assistants, academic support assistants, and a library/media digital lead teacher.
COVID SAFETY UPDATES
A few notes from the latest board meeting:
- Masks on buses and inside, no masks outside
- Social distancing still in place
- Self-screen--don't come to school with Covid symptoms, call your administrator to self-report
- No visitors or volunteers on campus (even on the first day of school)
- Field trips and Events limited to outside, small groups
- Not using water fountains, please send water bottle with student
- School age students can bring a backpack with only needed supplies
Daily cleaning protocols will remain in place at APS. We also will continue to use only filtered water for drinking and HEPA air purifiers in classrooms. Our classes will continue to pod, but with 3-4 classes in a pod instead of two. This will continue to allow for more distancing on the play structures and at lunch.

Meet Emagine Montgomery, our School Social Worker for Lucy S. Herring and Asheville Primary Schools. Emagine is a native of Asheville, an Alumni of Asheville High School c/o 2014 and has a Bachelors in Social Work from North Carolina A&T. She has been a part of the Asheville City School family as an Instructional Assistant and looks forward to the years to come as a ACS School Social Worker. Emagine is most excited about her new role because she says she finally has the opportunity to walk in what she feels is her purpose in life; she says she definitely has a servant's heart. She believes her two best qualities are that she is passionate and has the ability to build relationships effortlessly.
Camilla Bellows~Preschool Instructional Assistant
Hi! My name is Camilla Bellows and I am so excited to be at Asheville Preschool as an Asheville City Schools alum myself. I am passionate about creating an inclusive learning environment that welcomes teachers, students and families to learn, play, and grow together.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies from Furman University and I am currently in graduate school at Appalachian State University pursuing my Birth through Kindergarten licensure.
When I am not in the classroom, I can be found going on walks with friends and family, visiting coffee shops, and taking trips to the farmers market!
I look forward to getting to know everyone and having an amazing 2021-2022 school year!
