After School Clubs & Sports About to Begin
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic affecting our school life, Daniel Wright would like to offer students the opportunity to participate in clubs and activities this fall. Fall clubs and activities will be offered online remotely both synchronously and asynchronously. In-person students will join in the activity when they return home.
Registration for the fall sports and activities is now open. Please use the RevTrak Web Store platform to register for all programs listed here. Programs do fill up and are offered on a first-come first-serve basis.
Sports
- Boys Basketball: Boys basketball is open to students in sixth-, seventh- and eighth grade. Please read the basketball flyer on how the program will work this fall.
- Cheer: Please read the cheer flyer on how the program will work this fall.
- Girls Basketball: Girls basketball is open to students in sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade. Please read the basketball flyer on how the program will work this fall.
- Cross Country: Sixth- through eighth-graders are encouraged to participate in this fall sport that begins shortly. Please review the cross country flyer for details of this year’s program.
- Cheer: Please read the cheer flyer on how the program will work this fall.
- Poms: Please read the Poms flyer on how the program will work this fall.
Clubs and Activities
- Battle of the Books: Students compete as individuals on an eight-person team to answer questions in a Jeopardy-style competition.
- Choir: Choir is open to all students in grades 6-8.
- Computer Science Club: Not only will students in grades 6-8 engage in exciting games and projects but they will also develop their roots in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in the computer science club. Please review the computer science club flyer for information about how the club will operate this fall.
- Debate Club: For more information about joining the Debate Club please visit the club website for information about how the club will operate in the fall. Please fill out the Debate Club Application to participate.
Fiber Arts Club: Fiber Arts is a workshop where students can learn a new skill in the fiber arts or practice skills they already possess. Fiber Arts includes but is not limited to: sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, felting, weaving, etc.
- Free to Be: Free to Be is for LGBTQAI+ and straight allies to promote respect and inclusion within our school community.
- Jazz Band: Sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders are encouraged to sign up for Jazz Band. Please fill out the Jazz Band Registration form.
- Math Club: The purpose of the team is to explore a variety of math problems and have an opportunity to participate in math competitions.
- Newspaper Club: Please review the newspaper club flyer for information about how the club will operate this fall.
- Science Bowl: Science Bowl is a competitive academic club for students that excel and enjoy science. Students compete in a "Jeopardy Style" format answering math and science questions. For more about how the program will operate this fall, please review the Science Bowl flyer.
- Science Olympiad: The purpose of Science Olympiad is to improve the quality of science education, increase student interest in science, and create a technologically literate workforce while providing recognition for outstanding achievement by students. Please fill out the following information form, one per student only.
- Student Council: The Student Council is an activity open to all Daniel Wright students. Student leadership development is the process of involving students in meaningful ways both in and beyond the classroom. It is providing opportunities for students to demonstrate their talents, skills, and interests while continuing to develop leadership skills. To show your interest in the club, please fill out the student application form.
- STEAM Club: The STEAM Club offers seventh- and eighth-graders the opportunity to learn about various STEAM topics, such as biology, physics, and engineering, while engaging in hands-on projects and labs.
- Wright Way Club: Please review the Wright Club flyer for information about how the club will work this fall. Club sponsors will populate their Google Classroom site for ongoing information about the program.
- Yearbook Club: The Yearbook Club edits, designs and creates the student yearbook
