A Message from Principal Joshua

COVID-19 News/Assistance

As we all know, one of our biggest hurdles continues to be COVID-19. We are social distancing as much as possible and following our COVID-19 cleaning protocols throughout our building. Admittedly, lunch presents a unique challenge. For your information, lunch is 25 minutes. Students are constantly reminded to keep their masks on while waiting in line. They have been encouraged to eat and then put their masks back on when they finish. The tables are thoroughly sanitized and disinfected between each lunch group. Unfortunately, we know in order to keep everyone safe, at times individuals will need to quarantine/isolate. As long as students feel well enough to do so, we want them to contact their teachers via email and request that assignments are posted in Google Classroom or emailed directly to them. This opportunity only applies to those who are absent and documented as "quarantined excused".

I am pleased to report that through our vaccination efforts we have not had a high rate of person to person transmission at school. The majority of our cases have been as a result of individuals being identified as direct contacts outside of school/work or contracting COVID-19 outside of school/work.

If you would like to review the data specifically for our school, you will find the information on the DCSS website or by clicking the following link. This information is updated and posted every Monday by 5:00 PM.

This report summarizes COVID-19 cases and the percent of positive COVID-19 cases per school location from Friday to Thursday among students and staff. A case is defined as a person with a positive COVID test. Cases are summed across staff and students enrolled and/or working at the school location. The percent of cases per school (location) represents the number of cases within the school divided by the school's total student and staff population.

Our students are doing a great job with their masks for the most part. Please encourage your student to mask up at all times. I would also ask that after you have done your own personal research that you also consider the COVID-19 vaccination. We will continue to implement this protocol until the Cobb/Douglas Health Department recommendations change. Thank you for all you are doing at home to support our efforts at school.

As always, I thank you for your continued support! Please feel free to call, email, or schedule an appointment if you have any questions, concerns or just need to talk!

Principal Joshua
