What's Happening in Fourth Grade
Keep Calm and Read a Book
I am so impressed with the number of books the students have read so for for this year's 40 Book Challenge. In fact, congratulations to Olivia Rhodes who has already read 40 books and is starting another 40 book challenge. WOW! I checked everyone's logs on Friday and many of the students have already read 15 - 20 books which include a variety of genres. Please continue to encourage your reader's at home and remind them to record what they read as soon as they finish the book.
To help them reach their goals I have been buying as many books as possible to add to our class library. This includes new literature and nonfiction selections. This month Scholastic has a great promotion that will help your children at home and support our classroom library at the same time.
For every dollar spent our class get a bonus point. I used these bonus points to buy new books for our library. Between January 1 - 31 we can earn extra bonus points for future orders and we get dollars to spend on this current order. Not only that, but if this month's order is at least $100, then every student in the class will get a free book and I will each student will get a coupon for a free book. The more you order for your children the more our class will benefit too. (See chart below)
The students want to build collections of series. If you have any of these books at home that you would like to donate we would love to have them.
