Do You Want to Teach Abroad?
The Russian Sister City Project is looking for 1-2 volunteer teachers for its Summer 2020 English Language Institute in Rostov Veliky, Russia. Teachers will teach conversational English to children between the ages of 10 and 17 at the Gymnasium high school in our sister city between approximately June 15 - 26, 2020. Teachers teach two classes in the morning. Afternoons are free for organized cultural experiences such as trips to Yaroslavl and other cities of the Golden Ring, Moscow, and St. Petersburg.
In the past teachers have taken along 2-3 Stevens Point Area High School students to act as their teaching assistants. Classes at the Gymnasium average about 20 students.
Limited stipends are now available to teacher volunteers in the Stevens Point School District to allay the cost of their flight and visa. While in Rostov Veliky, teachers will be placed with host families to experience Russian culture first-hand. Additional costs for the trip are minimal.
To get more information on the Summer English Institute or to apply, please email Russian Sister City Co-chairs Susan Zach zachfam@wi-net.com or Maia Johnson reck.maia@gmail.com, or teachers Holly Fritz hfritz@pointschools.net or Dan Hoppe dhoppe@pointschools.net. Applications are due February 1, 2020.
