October Updates

Morgan Kincaid

In the Classroom

Thank you all for a great first quarter. Our MTSS rotations are up and running, interventions are in place and students are working hard. Dr. Gomez visited our campus before the break and asked me to share with you all how pleased he was with the level of positive student engagement and meaningful instruction he observed. Keep up the great work.

As we begin our second quarter here are a few things to remember. Please make sure current student writing is posted and objectives are written on the board. Writing should be taking place across the curriculum. Continue utilizing note taking strategies and teaching academic vocabulary. Additionally, I am happy to share that more chromebooks have arrived. Please remember that while students are using chromebooks this is an excellent time for you as the teacher to pull students back for small group instruction. Please make sure this is happening. Students should be meeting their Lexia and Compass Math minutes. Small group instruction and effective intervention programs will continue to help our students reach new heights. The STAR testing window has opened and we will be holding data chats soon. I am excited to see our growth as I am confident that each of you are ensuring our student needs are being met.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Please submit your parent teacher conference schedules to the front office as soon as possible. If you need a translator please make sure one is available before confirming a time with a parent. If you would like to hold a conference as an SST, sign-ups will be posted on Mrs. Filip's door. Dismissal will be at 11:10 on conference days. A bell schedule for conference days with modified lunch start times has been distributed. Thanks!

District Wide Disaster Drill

Our district wide disaster drill will be held on October 19th at 10:20 a.m. Please be prepared to be flexible with lunch start times on this day. The drill will be conducted as an earthquake drill. Students need to duck and cover until the all clear is given, then classes should evacuate to the playground, staff should account for their students and then report to their assigned area. Please refer to the incident command chart in your mailboxes.
