50% of teenage girls and 30% of teenage boys use unhealthy weight control behaviors. It also holds the highest fatality rate for any mental illness. Only one third of the people in the USA who suffer from anorexia will get treatment.
Symptoms of Anorexia
- Can be underweight.
- Loss or thinning of hair.
- Insomnia.
- Lack of emotion, flat mood.
- Social withdrawl (avoiding family, friends, and social events)
- Irritable with people.
- Obsessed with calories and the fat content of food.
- Eating alone and hiding food / cutting food into tiny pieces.
- Feeling cold often.
