Better Together

Dear Wiggin Street Families,

We hope your kids had a great time on their snow days this week! It's difficult for everyone to not be on a regular schedule, but we made the best of it by playing in the snow and spending the day with Richard Cowdrey today!

Next week, we would love to have a full week of learning. Our Student Leadership Committee will meet in the Library on Monday at 8:40 am. This is a new team formed of two students from each grade level that will bring ideas from their peers to help Wiggin Street become even a better place! The focus will be on ways to be a Leader of Self by making good choices and setting goals as well as Leading Others through sharing what they know, being a good role model, and possibly guiding a group to work on a goal. The students’ input will also be shared with our Building Leadership Team made up of teachers in hopes that the students’ voices can make an impact in our school.

Lastly, don't forget to order your child's yearbook. The sale comes to a close at the end of the day tomorrow, Jan. 28th, and there is a link below. Also, Math-a-thon envelopes and money are due this Monday, Jan. 30th.

Stay warm,

Christy Grandstaff

Richard Cowdrey- Visiting Author/Illustrator

Check out the video and pictures below from our visit from Richard Cowdrey! The kids were excited to show off their drawings that they made. We appreciate Mr. Cowdrey spending time sharing about his career. The Battle of the Books Team even had the opportunity to eat with him and ask more questions.

Math-A-Thon

Prizes for the Math-A-Thon will be passed out starting Wednesday, February 8th. The money raised from this fundraiser will help the school purchase Makerspace & STEM resources. Our school and students have benefited greatly from your generosity of past Math-A-Thons. We appreciate your support of this fundraiser.

WINTER WEATHER

Please remember that students will go outside on days where the temperature with wind chill accounted for is 20°f and above. Be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather each day. Coats, hats, and gloves are necessary at this time of the year. Boots are required for playing in the snow. If you need assistance with winter outerwear for your child, please contact our school, and we will happily find warm clothes for them.

First Grade Flip Grids

First graders used Flip Grid for the first time this week. What was the topic of discussion? What did you do on the snow day?
