Safety Improved on the MVM Campus!

This year the Governing Council and the MMCI Board of Trustees approved funding to install outside cameras at Monocacy Valley Montessori.

The cameras were installed in October under the direction of Jeff Seymour, FCPS Security Tech Specialist; Larry Toombs, MVM Mechanic; and a donation from Steve Furlow, a parent at our school.

As a downtown location with multiple entries, we are now able to watch and record outside activity. Our doors are locked during the day and entry is only allowed from the inside. The addition of new cameras allows us to record who is at the doors or on our Dill Avenue playground and parking lot property, 24 hours a day.

The TV in the front office shows us the recordings. We also have computer access to the recordings and can review up to two weeks of footage.

Thank you to all who worked to keep MVMPCS safe!

Ms. Nancy

MVM Alum returns for Talent Show

When FCPS canceled after school activities on Friday, that meant our prearranged FCPS interpreters could no longer sign at the talent show.

At the last minute, literally 15 minutes before the show, Emily Loecken agreed to come and interpret. Emily was an 8th grader at MVM last year and is currently a 9th grader at TJ High School.

She signed without a break the entire show with professionalism and grace.

Thank you, Emily, for being part of the show and sharing your talent with us.
