What is Human Trafficking? and Where does it happen?

Human trafficking is the illegal movement of people. typically for the purposes of forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation. It is a crime that often goes unreported due to it's covert nature, various misconceptions and it's lack of awareness in a local area because people don't expect it where they live. Globally, the average cost of a slave is $90. There are approximately 20 to 30 million slaves in the world today. According to the U.S. State department, 600 thousand to 800 thousand people are trafficked across international borders every year. More than 70% are female and half are children. Between 14,500 and 17,500 people are trafficked into the U.S. each year.

Ways to help prevent Human Trafficking

1) Join or create a club that helps your community in Human trafficking

2) Mention it in a club, sport, meeting, confrences, etc.

3) Volunteer to do victim outreach or offer your professional services to a local anit-trafficking organization

4) Write a letter to the editor of your local paper about human trafficking in your community.

5) Take notice in any conflicts or behaviors that can lead to slavery of human trafficking.

6) The best thing to do is help out or do something to help the areas where Human trafficking is huge, the sooner the better
