Parent Newsletter
September, 2020
Hello Lion Family!
Parents, keep a close eye on details coming home as well as through our media outlets. With day to day changes, we want to communicate thoroughly with you as we strive to help our families stay informed and appreciated.
We are excited to announce ALL students’ breakfast and lunch will be provided FREE through the end of December! This is great news for our Lion family! Parents, we still need your free/reduced lunch forms returned to help with school funding and to be in place when the free lunch period ends.
We are glad to have such great support from our community. Thank you again for helping make Brooks the BESt!! Let's have a wonderful September!
Roar Lions!
BES Faculty and Staff
Welcome From BES PTO
Hi Brooks Elementary Family and Friends! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Kayla Bray, and I am the PTO President for the 20-21 school year. I have a first grader here at the school. I have been involved with PTO since the day he started. I look forward to this school year.
Here’s a brief summary of what our PTO provides or has provided in the past:
· Building clean up and safety equipment installation as part of the Together We Shine program
· Snack boxes to all classrooms for students in need
· A fence around the kindergarten playground and equipment repair
· Larger resources for teachers, such as new tables for the art room
· Class T-Shirt Orders
· Spirit Shop
· Fall Fundraiser and Party for top sellers
· Purchasing and Organizing for the annual Fall Festival
· A yearly Santa Shop completely ordered, organized, and run by PTO members
· Valentine’s Boxes and Valentine-grams
· Teacher Appreciation Week
· Field Day, and more....
Beyond monetary value, PTO also provides support to teachers and students throughout the year. Whether it is laminating and cutting out items, supporting our lunchroom staff by helping kindergarteners learn their numbers, watching classes during a special teachers’ lunch, or helping pop popcorn for students who hit a classroom goal, PTO wants to be sure we help our school run efficiently and fully supported in every way possible!
Our dues are $10/year, and that money goes to help fund budgeted items such as those previously mentioned. I do ask that that you please help our students and teachers by signing up for the PTO. Granted, this year is different, so opportunities to assist in the school is a fluid situation. Much of our in-person volunteering has been limited for the time being, and some of our fall events will probably be moved to spring. Our Facebook page is a great resource for information regarding our operations. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask our officers or private message me on the Facebook page.
Be safe and Roar Lions,
