Newsletter 3 November 2021

Our Vision: To grow Catholic, Christian young people,

who are confident, connected lifelong learners, inspired by the teachings of Jesus,

and who make a positive difference in their community.

Tēnā tātou

As you are know, our Principal, Tom Sheehan is on sick leave. I have accepted the role of Acting Principal. I know you all echo my sentiments in wishing Tom a speedy recovery.

I am grateful for the support and confidence of the School Board and the St James’ staff.

The children have returned to school full of energy and enthusiasm after the Labour weekend break. They are loving the opportunity to swim during the lunch hours. We are looking forward to a busy few weeks during this final term. Due to Covid, some of our activities are altered but we will keep you informed about these.

Twilight Family Fun Night - I know how the community was looking forward to this event however in these unprecedented times we are unable to hold this in alert level 2. I wish to acknowledge the length that the committee has gone to, to prepare such an event and encourage you to support the PTFA (Parent, Teacher and Friend Association) in their fundraising efforts for our Tamariki and school going forward.

Tomorrow we have our School Sports and Additional Photos. Please ensure learners bring their PE or sports uniform and sports shoes for these. If you have not already done so please return the Photo Order Form to the office by tomorrow morning.

Thank you for your support with the SVDP Christmas Hampers, this Friday we are having a non uniform and disco day where learners can bring in a food item from the Hamper List.

Celebrations - Celebrating Success

DanceNZ Made - On Wednesday 27th October we took 54 learners to the Regent on Broadway for the annual Dance NZ Made celebration!!

Our Year 5 and 6 dancers spent the day at the Regent participating in workshops and practicing for the evening performance, and our year 3 and 4 dancers joined in for some of the day at the Regent, also getting some practice time in. Then both teams courageously and brilliantly performed their dances as part of the night time showcase. They did us proud!

Getting Involved

Shining Stars Music and Play – Preschool Music Group Thursday 9:30am Cathedral lounge. Contact Basia

Stamps, Can Tabs, Wine Bottle Tops - One small way we can make life easier for others which costs us nothing, is to collect Stamps, Can Tabs and Wine Bottle Tops. You will find boxes for these in the Office foyer. If, as a family you don’t already set these items aside for Kidney Kids at Starship and the Missions you might like to start as a very visible witness to demonstrating Jesus example of LOVE. Encourage neighbours and family to do the same. There is no deadline.
