General Reminders
- Please make sure ALL students have a dismissal card, and if they start looking gross and tattered, please remake them. Daisy will laminate them for you.
- Staff children must remain in the parent's area in the morning and in the afternoon (after being picked up in the Kiva). They are not to be running around pods or playing in flex spaces. Remember, staff members come early and leave late to finish up work. Please make sure these environments are quiet.
- Although we love all colors, Bronco Bucks are only blue. Please do not make your own color Bronco Bucks to give out.
- Student attendance is important. Please make sure you are helping out by calling parents when students are absent consecutive days. You should be the first point of contact with the parent to see what is going on and asking them how we can support getting their child to school every day and on time.
- Chromebooks should be going home and are encouraged to be used with the various programs. You can definitely give out incentives for students participating at home and bringing back their chromebook and charger, but you cannot punish students for not doing it. Please do not take recess away or give a consequence if they are not using it at home.
- Class punishments are not permitted. You are not allowed to take away recess from the whole class or give the entire class/grade level silent lunch. I would also encourage you to not take away one student's whole recess.
Bronco Buck Store Shopping
In order for shopping to go quickly on Wednesdays, please have students shop in your room before lunch. Then, have their bronco bucks stapled in tens with a sticky note that has what they want written on it. This way, they can hand the bronco bucks and sticky note to the parent who can then retrieve the item and move on to the next student. This should help make the process go faster.
Guest Principal
We are so blessed to have Dr. Carla Brosnahan support the campus while I'm recovering. She would love to come read in your room one day. If you would like for her to visit your classroom, be sure to sign up using the google sheet below. Be sure to write down what time you would like her to read, as well. She will do her best to accommodate your request.

Fire Drills
Please be sure to stand in the correct zone outside when heading out for a fire drill. See the map below. This will help to keep grade levels separated and make it easier for admin. to clear the building and outside before concluding the drill.
PD Opportunity
Spring Behavior Summit (Virtual)
Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. the classroom management team will present the Spring Behavior Summit. There are 3, one-hour sessions offered with 6 courses each session. Here is the flyer for you to register and plan ahead.
Communicate with Parents
Remember, the easiest way to ensure parents are not on your side is by not communicating with them. The district and campus expectation is that you respond to parent emails, phone calls, texts etc. within 24 hours. Please make sure you are doing that. If you need support in how best to respond to a parent, do not hesitate to reach out to your AP or an Ateam member. We are here for you!
Student Engagement
The visual above was shared with me by a teacher who attended a Saturday training (way to go Mrs. Aguirre!). I thought this was a wonderful visual to gauge where your students are on the continuum of student engagement. Are they actively disrupting? Are they passively participating? Or are they actively driving their learning? As you reflect over the Thanksgiving break, think about where your kids are and how you can help move them to actively driving. This should help lead your lesson planning while looking at their academic data.
Glow and Grow of the Week
Glow of the Week: Our third graders were absolutely amazing at their Thanksgiving performance this past Tuesday evening! Thank you to the teachers who assisted with the students preparing them before making their way to the stage, and a huge shout out to Mrs. Katherine Hoskins, our fabulous music director! It was a packed house. Parents and staff loved every minute of it!
Grow of the Week: Don't forget to take care of you! This really isn't a grow..it's a reminder. You are doing an amazing job, and maybe the scores don't necessarily show it right now. It's ok, because it will all come together. As long as you know your kids, know their data and are planning for every instructional minute with purposeful lessons, you are succeeding. Just don't forget to remind yourself of this! Take next week to reflect and relax! You deserve the break!
