Welcome Back Cavalier Nation!

This is the second issue of the Cavalier Contact. Over 300 people viewed the first issue last week! Thank you for the wonderful CAVS support! Our goal is to increase the number of views for this issue. The Cavalier Contact serves as the weekly newsletter for the Caroline High School Community by providing the following:

CHS Open House

Wednesday, Aug. 7th, 5-8pm

Caroline High School

Please come to CHS to meet your teachers, pay fees, tour the school, and more as you make final preparations for the upcoming school year.

  • Please enter the Gymnasium Lobby when you arrive for Open House
  • Informational presentations will be conducted by Mr. Just for parents and students at 5:30 pm and 7:00 pm in the Auditorium.

Freshmen Transition Workshop -- Final Reminder

Friday, Aug. 2nd, 8-11am


The 4th annual transition workshop for incoming freshmen is this Friday. If you need information on this event, then please email Dr. Weidle at as soon as possible.

School Counseling Update


  • 2019-2020 schedules will be mailed home on August 1st.

  • This year, schedule changes will be made electronically via a google form. More information will be in the envelope with your schedule.

  • Please note, schedule changes will only be allowed if there is an error on the schedule (missing a core class, missing a graduation requirement, not having 8 classes on your schedule, etc). Schedule changes will be not be allowed if the student requested the class and no longer wishes to take the course.

  • The last day for schedule changes for the 2019-2020 school year is Wednesday, August 14th.

Attendance Essentials


The specifics of the attendance policy are stated below so you are ready for the new school year.

Excused absences include:

  • Student illness – Student illness for more than three (3) consecutive days will require a doctor’s note.
  • Death or serious illness of a family member. (documentation required)
  • Doctor, dentist, or therapist appointments.
  • Pre-approved travel for family emergencies or vacation.
  • College visitations.
  • Subpoenas for court.
  • Religious observances

Documentation required for an excused absence-within 3 days:

Note from a Physician, Court documentation OR –

A note from a parent containing the following:

  • Date
  • Date of absence
  • The full name of the student
  • The exact reason for the absence
  • The student’s grade
  • The signer’s phone number (home and work) where he/she can be reached.
  • The Signature of parent/guardian

Late Arrivals/Early Dismissals:

Students may be excused for tardiness or receive early dismissal from school for the same reasons as those listed under excused absences.

  • Written request (from a parent/guardian) for early dismissal shall be submitted to the Attendance Office prior to the requested dismissal time. These requests shall be approved/denied by the principal or his designee.

Fall Sports Reminders

Attention all student-athletes interested in trying out for a fall sport: Tryouts for Football & Golf will begin on August 1. Volleyball, Field Hockey, Cheer, and Cross Country officially begin on Monday, August 5. Please wear appropriate practice clothes and bring your completed VHSL physical.

**Activities Bus Schedule**

  • For August 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, & 9 the bus will drop students off at CHS at 3:00 pm and the bus will pick up the students from CHS at 7:00 pm.
  • For August 7 the bus will drop students off at CHS at 1:30 pm and the bus will pick up students from CHS at 5:00 pm due to Open House.
  • The normal activities bus schedule will resume on August 12 with the normal departure times of 5:45 pm until Oct. 3, 2019. The departure time will adjust to 5:30 pm starting on Oct. 7, 2019.


You must have a completed VHSL physical to participate in athletics at Caroline:

The Cavalier Custodial Staff is working hard each day to prepare the CHS for students on August 12.
The "Old" Main Hall is waxed and ready to go.

Updates and Information for the CHS Faculty & Staff

  • Staff Email -- All faculty and staff should have received an email from Mr. Just concerning teacher work week. If you did not receive this email, then please email Mr. Just at as soon as possible.
  • The New Teacher Academy -- July 31st through August 2nd -- 8 am to 4 pm
  • Teacher Work Week -- Begins Monday, August 5th at 7:00 am in the CHS Cafeteria
