Tonasket SD is a public school located in rural north-central Washington. It is one of the largest geographical districts in the state!
The Tonasket setting is rural with magnificent topography of mountains and valleys. The Okanogan River, part of the Columbia River system, flows through the town of Tonasket. There are many lakes in the area, some large and others quite small. The climate is best described as semi-arid with four definite seasons.

The Tonasket School District is currently looking to fill Summer School ES Paraeducators – Twelve Positions.
The Tonasket School District is now accepting in and out-of-district applications for:
Summer School ES Paraeducators – Twelve Positions
- 14 days/ 82 hours total: 4 weeks plus 3 days for training & prep
- Substitutes will be considered in-district for this position.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Elementary Summer School Paraeducator
DEPARTMENT: Elementary Summer School
REPORTS TO: Elementary Summer School Site Administrator
WORK DAYS: 14 days/ 84 hours total: 11 days teaching + 3 days for training & prep. See Work Schedule and Compensation, below.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist summer school teachers in varied instructional settings, promoting skills in literacy, math, and social areas.
Assist in compiling data and keeping appropriate records.
Attend relevant inservices as they are available.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Ability to work with students individually or in small groups, within the classroom in a “push-in” model, or “pull out,” as needed and directed.
Assist in the supervision of students.
Assist in administering curriculum-based tests.
Monitor and assist students with computer-based programs.
Perform other relevant duties as assigned
May assist in serving meals to students.
Must attend field trip.

WORK SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:
Paraeducators are required to:
Attend two professional development/program preparation days prior to student attendance days. These will be scheduled prior to the student attendance start date of June 22nd, 2023
The third day will be four (4) supplemental hours to be used for the purpose of compiling data and clearing the room at the completion of summer school. The supplemental hours must be utilized by Tuesday, July 18, 2023.
Assist teachers in delivering the school program on the following student attendance dates in 2023: June 22, 23, 27, 28, 29, July 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13.
Overview of work hours: 12 hours prior to program start, 66 hours during program operation dates, and 4 hours after program completion.
Total paid hours: 82 hours. Pay is at your regular hourly rate
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Must meet federal guidelines for Highly Qualified by having an AA degree or 72 quarter hours or 48 semester college credits or documentation of successfully passing the state assessment. Additionally, use of district vehicles and large amounts of travel are required.
MANDATORY CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Successful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background check.
Successful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance.
Completion of Federal I-9, Employment Verification Eligibility form.
