Referendum Updates - Proposed Boundary Map and Operating Costs
At a special Board of Education meeting held on Wednesday, October 5, information about proposed boundary changes was presented. Boundary changes would be necessary should the referendum pass and a new K-5 elementary school is built. In addition, Assistant Superintendent for Finance, Facilities and Operations Eric DePorter explained operating costs should District 41 build a new K-5 school and a new preschool center.

Superintendent Kaczkowski presented a proposal for new boundaries if the referendum passes in November. Board consensus was to support this recommendation.

Financial Information: Operating Costs | watch
Mr. DePorter presented a projection summary of operating costs for the new K-5 elementary school as well as the early learning preschool center addition.

Board/Community Engagement Sessions October 17 and 19
Community members are welcome to engage with two board members in attendance about the proposed boundary map and other referendum related topics at open community engagement sessions in October. New boundaries would be implemented if the referendum is successful and a new school is built on the district owned Spalding Park property on the northside of Glen Ellyn. All are welcome to attend these in-person sessions.

IASB Names 2022 Governance Recognition Honorees
The Glen Ellyn School District 41 Board of Education is one of 33 Illinois school boards to have earned the School Governance Recognition Honors for 2022 by the Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB).
The program acknowledges boards of education that have engaged in activities that lead to excellence in local school governance in support of quality public education. These school boards develop and practice effective governance behaviors as identified in IASB’s Foundational Principles of Effective Governance. With a focus on full board participation, the award goes to school boards that understand that excellence requires full board commitment to obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities critical to good governance.
Congratulations to the District 41 Board of Education and all school boards who were recognized with this honor.

Mr. Gratz also discussed his research methods with students, as well as some of his other popular books. Students and teachers left the presentation excited to read his new book!
