¡May, Mamas, and Maracas!
Spring is in the air! We made name caterpillars and tissue paper butterflies. We learned about symmetry by painting one side of a butterfly and folding it over. We read bug books, traced lines of rain and flower stems, sequenced spring events, and read about cloudy days while answering questions throughout the story. We decorated paper plate maracas and made tacos to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Also during centers, we practiced copying block designs and learned about opposites (heavy/light, tall/short, full/empty, hot/cold).
During circle time, we watched our caterpillars grow each day and enter their chrysalises (where they are now and will hopefully wait until at least Monday to emerge). We talked about May and Mother's Day, clapped out syllables in our friends' names, and imitated actions. During Friends Group, we answered where-questions, played Who's Hiding, took turns identifying actions during Caribou, and played letter bingo and Zingo. For P.E., we practiced tossing to a target, hitting balls off of cones with bats, and throwing soft frisbees.
We celebrated Ms. Mary's, Ms. Diana's, and Ms. Jillian's birthdays this week and Ms. Kara's the other week - HBD to you all!
