News from the Clinic!
Head Lice is a very common problem and at any given time of the school year there are a few known cases at BSE.
The signs and symptoms of head lice infestation are:
- Tickling feeling of something moving in the hair.
- Itching, caused by an allergic reaction to the bites.
- Sores on the head caused by scratching.
Head lice are most commonly found on the scalp, behind the ears, and near the neckline at the back of the neck. The actual louse is very small and grayish white in color. They do not jump or fly, but they can crawl very quickly. The eggs (nits) are also very small and yellow-white in color. They are laid at the base of the hair shaft and are firmly attached to the hair.
Contact with a person who is infested with head lice is the most common way to get head lice. Less common, is indirectly from wearing hats, scarves, hair accessories, etc. that were recently worn by a person infested with head lice; using infested combs or brushes; or lying on a bed, sofa, carpet, or pillow that has recently been used by an infested person.
The staff at BSE shall maintain the privacy of students identified with having head lice. The school nurse will monitor the incidence and will consult with the Principal and HSE Nurse Coordinator as needed. Please contact the clinic with any questions or for further information regarding head lice. Because no disease process is associated with head lice, students will not be excluded from school and the education process should not be disrupted. If your child should have head lice prompt treatment should prevent it from spreading.

The clinic is in need of gently used clothing for both boys and girls. Sweatpants, gym shorts, and jeans work the best. The clinic could also use boxes of tissues. Thank you in advance for your donations.

Our Treasurer, Janet Pietz, has decided to pursue the position of CEO of the Pietz home. We thank Janet for her service to BSE and appreciate all she did for us while here.
Beth Kiel, current part time secretary, will be finishing the year as the BSE Treasurer.
Jan Witman, will be our part time secretary taking Beth's place. Please help us in welcoming Jan to BSE!
I-PAD DEVICE SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE 2016-2017 SCHOOL YEAR!
Beginning in the fall of 2016, each student in grades K-4 will use an iPad during their day at school. Families may provide their own iPad or rent an iPad from HSE Schools. More communication about the elementary 1:1 program will be forthcoming; in the
meantime, please visit the HSE School Corporation website to find more information about HSE21 and HSE’s 1:1 program.
For families who choose to provide their own iPad, device requirements are as follows: "Model: (Full-sized) iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4 (iPad Retina), iPad Air, or iPad Air 2 Memory Size: 16 GB or greater Internet: Firewalls and filters will enable secure use of Wi-Fi at school. Therefore, no additional purchase of data plans/cellular/3G/LTE connection is needed."

Honor and Excellence are two of the terms that appear on the Hamilton Southeastern Crest. One might attribute these qualities to our students, and rightly so, but the same terms can also describe our staff. We honor representatives of our outstanding teachers at the end of each year through the Teacher of the Year program. We would also like to recognize representatives from our SUPPORT STAFF who demonstrate excellence in their work.
We are looking for support staff employees who go beyond the normal expectations of their job description resulting in outstanding support of Hamilton Southeastern students and the Hamilton Southeastern Community.
Nominees must be Hamilton Southeastern employees. They could be from any support staff category, including: custodial services, transportation, food service, technology, grounds, secretarial, instructional assistants, maintenance, accounting, treasurers, school resource officers, nurses, etc. Qualifications to be nominated would include anything beyond the normal expectations of the person’s job. It could be a “one-time” act or a series of acts.
Nominations may be received from any person from the Hamilton Southeastern Community, including: professional staff, support staff, parents, students, community members, etc.
Feel free to nominate past recipients of the award. Past award winners are eligible to be chosen again.
If you would like to nominate someone for this award, please complete the form on or before March 25, 2016. If you have any questions, please contact Sharon Moore at firstname.lastname@example.org. Be sure to get your nomination in early - those received after March 25 will not be considered.

The HSEHS World Connections Club will present its eighth annual “International Night” on Friday, March 25, 2016. Live entertainment will begin at 7:00pm in the Leonard Auditorium, immediately followed by food and fun in the Annex Café. Celebrate St. Patty’s Day with Fishers Parks & Recreation
This St. Patty’s Day, let Fishers Parks & Recreation help you celebrate! Children ages 2 through 10 are invited to stop by the Roy G. Holland Memorial Park Building with a parent for Shamrock Pottery. Taking place on Saturday, March 12 from 1 to 2 p.m., this program offers an opportunity to spend quality time with your child while doing something fun.
During Shamrock Pottery each child will have the opportunity to create their own shamrock shaped dish. All supplies will be provided and no prior experience is necessary to register for this program. After painting is complete, one of our staff members will read The Night Before St. Patrick’s Day to the group! All finished pottery creations will be available for pickup from the Fishers Parks & Recreation office, located at 11565 Brooks School Road, seven days after the program concludes.

Spring 2016 Registration Update - Registration for baseball, soccer, and girls lacrosse is closed and a waitlist has been started. Softball registration closes March 4. Boys lacrosse, rugby, track and field and boys volleyball registrations are still being accepted with a $10 late fee. Fishers-HSE Youth Baseball Evaluations - Rec league evaluation dates are listed below. It is very important that every player attend their designated evaluation session. Players should report 10 minutes prior to their scheduled time.

*Please Note* - Only 8U players interested in playing All-Stars need to be evaluated. There are NO evaluations for the 5/6U leagues.
