Arctic Blast
Glacier Ridge Elementary School 11.12.21
Dear Glacier Ridge Families,
The temperatures continue to drop and it snowed a little today! More snow is predicted this weekend so get those shovels ready. As we enter the colder months of the year please know that we will still have the students outside. If there is snow they can play on the grass and equipment if they have show pants and boots on.
If you haven't yet signed up for conferences you still have until Monday. Hurry as spaces are filling up. If you need a conference with someone other than your child's classroom teacher (Encore etc) please reach out to these individuals directly.
We love books and reading here at Glacier Ridge and we have some opportunities to celebrate this in the next two weeks. See this newsletter to find out about Reading Night and the Book Fair!
Have a great weekend,
Mr. Jacobsen and Mrs. Reinhardt

Parent Teacher Conferences - Scheduling CLOSES Monday, 11/15
Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held in November. Our teachers are excited to share your student's progress thus far, as well as the goals they have for continued progress. (Remember we want your students present at conferences to share their achievements and goals.)
This year's conferences will be held:
Monday, November 22nd 8:00am-8:00pm
Tuesday, November 23rd 8:00am-11:00am
Please log in to ParentVue and choose CONFERENCE from the left-hand menu to choose a day and time that works for you and your student(s). (If you have more than one student you will have to select each student separately to choose a date a time for a conference. Instructions can be found by clicking here. ) Your response will be automatically submitted to the teacher, while at the same time marking that time slot filled. (The time slots visible when you log in are the only time slots currently available.) If you need to change the time of your conference, log back into ParentVue, choose CONFERENCE, un-select your current time which will then allow you to choose a new time. (Parent-Teacher conferences CANNOT be scheduled using the ParentVUE app. Parents must log in via the Web browser.)
If you would like to have an encore (Art, LMC, Music, PE, or STEM), speech, reading teacher, or social worker included in your conference, please contact your child's homeroom teacher so she can make arrangements for that individual to be present.
Please contact your teacher or the main office if you have any questions or concerns.

Are You or Do You Know a Videographer? Here's an opportunity...
The 4th and 5th grade students have been working so hard on their songs in music class for their holiday performances! We are having so much fun practicing in Music class, and we can’t wait for our Glacier Ridge families to see them sing!. Unfortunately we are not able to do the concert in person due to Covid restrictions but we know our parents, friends and families want to enjoy seeing them on stage. With that being said, we are hoping for a miracle and would love to get a professional or great amateur videographer and/or audio engineer to help us bring the concert to everyone at home.
If you or anyone you know could help us, please reach out! You can contact Mrs. Evans by calling school or emailing at: devans@d47.org Thank you for considering.
Elementary lunch menu changes
Due to staffing and supply chain issues, Sodexo will be reducing its lunch menu options for D47 elementary schools beginning in December. Students will be able to choose from the hot lunch item being served that day or “Fun on the Run.” These changes will be reflected on the December elementary lunch menu.
It's A Bird! It's A Plane! It's SUPER Library!
There is SO much excitement in the library! See details in this Arctic Blast regarding the Scholastic Book Fair (in the library 11/19-11/23) and our Reading Colors Your World Family Reading Night (11/18). Classes have been working on getting ready for both events, so we hope to see you (virtually or in person) for both!
A RECORD HAS BEEN BROKEN!! We received a book that was checked out on 10/31/2019! Keep up the amazing work! Please be sure your child is bringing library books back to school on their library day or before. Even if they are still reading, they can renew the book if it is at school. We are almost reaching our goal of every child checking out at least one book every week! If books are lost or damaged, please email gwjohnston@d47.org. Thank you!
