Simkin, John. “Joseph McCarthy.” Spartacus Educational. 30 May 2008. Web. 21 Apr. 2014.
In John Simkin's writing on McCarthyism, he is focused more on what Senator Joseph McCarthy did to stop communism in America. Simkin speaks of the HUAC (House of Un-americanized Activities Commission) which was formed under McCarthy to investigate American and subversive activities among the government and throughout the celebrities in America. This tactic was mainly focused on the celebrity's, as communists knew that celebrities were more influential on more of society than government officials were, which meant the spread of communism would be quick. Hollywood, California was the biggest place where the HUAC was active as they quickly identified signs of communism, and punished those who practiced it. This source relied mainly on how the HUAC was formed to basically spread the awareness of communism in America. The site is very, very well organized and is separated into different portions in which awareness was raised to end communism (HUAC, Alien Registration Act). It makes the main idea very prominent, and the focal point is simple to identify.
In Kelly Wallace's description of McCarthyism, his writings go in great detail to describe Senator Joseph McCarthy's "rise to power." This site organized his work first through giving background information on Joseph McCarthy, then swiftly changed to help the reader understand how McCarthy believed that there was a Communist America, then on to his reasoning for "McCarthyism," making it easy for the reader to comprehend.
