Halloween Parade

On Friday, October 28th the students of Ferderbar Elementary will be holding their annual costume parade. All parents, guardians and siblings are invited to attend our parade. For safety reasons, we will ask that Ferderbar families attending the parade view the parade from the outside perimeter of the fence as the parade passes along the blacktop. The parade will begin at 2:20 p.m. and will be led by the Poquessing Middle School Band. In the event of rain, the afternoon parade will take place in the building for students and staff only.

With regard to the ever-increasing daily themes of aggression and violence in our society, the Ferderbar staff would like to suggest that parents/guardians carefully monitor the costume choices worn by students this day. We would request that costume accessories which could be construed as weapons not be part of your child's costume choice. Save make-up and elaborate accessories for Halloween night.

In an effort to maintain a safe and secure atmosphere during our Halloween celebration, we ask the following:

  • Students are not permitted to go home to get ready for the parade.
  • Students are not to be signed out of school after the parade. Children are to return home by their normal method.
  • No costumes may be worn to school.

In order to keep the day in proper perspective and in a secure and educational environment the above procedures are necessary.

Halloween Happening

Don't forget to get to join us for our Halloween Happening on Thursday, October 27th from 6:00-8:00 PM. Thank you in advance to our HSA for organizing this event for our students.

Every year at Holiday time, we, the staff of Joseph Ferderbar Elementary, ask that the children (and parents) donate money to the “Elf Fund”. In turn, we distribute gift certificates to needy families in our school to help out during this financially challenging time of year.

This event has been named in honor of Karen Jasper who was instrumental in developing the first “Elf Fund” and spaghetti dinner. Karen strongly believed in assisting others and in particular the families of Ferderbar.

Once again to boost our fund-raising efforts, we’re offering a Spaghetti Dinner to our students and their families, friends and neighbors. The time, date and cost are stated above. Tickets will be sold from Wednesday, October 19th through Wednesday, November 9th. To order tickets, fill out the envelope provided with your child’s name and room number, number of children and adults attending and enclose your check only. Please include the number of children 2 years and under when ordering your tickets so that we can get an accurate head count. Take out is available. Send the envelope in on the days stated.
