Word Consciousness/ IB
IB
This week Ms. Wanzer’s Eagles will help us understand the significance and application of an IB Learner Profile that we studies earlier this year,Caring. Someone who exemplifies this shows empathy, compassion, and respect towards the needs and feelings of others. They have a personal commitment to serve, and act to make a positive difference in the lives of others and the environment. Below are some ideas for morning meeting topics to discuss with your scholars this week:
1. We learn best when we are focused on what our teacher is saying and asking us to do or think about. What happens if someone says something to us that is unkind or mean? We are probably thinking about that instead of school.
2. At Peak we are a team and the only way that we can achieve our class goals and go to any college we want is if we are focused in school and supported by our teammates. So, today think about how you can show others you CARE about them and are there to support them achieve their goals. Remember to show your teammates you CARE about them every day so that we can ALL achieve our goals. Here are some simple things that you can do to show others you care about them:
· If someone drops their books or pencils, help them pick it up.
· If someone seems sad, ask them if they are ok, or try to cheer them up by saying something nice to them
· Talk to your teammates and teacher in the morning and tell them that you are happy to see them today
· Thank others when they help you do something, and look for ways that you can help others
· We have a lot to accomplish this year, and we can only do it as a team. So today, be nice 100% of the time and show others you CARE!!
3. Usually when we think about being caring, we think about being caring towards other people. Why is it important to be caring towards our environment as well? Why is it important to take care of animals?
Idk If we’re still doing this, but here it is.
Important dates/announcements etc.
Grading: teachers please ensure that you are keeping up with grades weekly. As stated in our policy , at least two grades per week should be put in the grade book. Keep in mind that CA's and TWA grades should always be included in report card grades when necessary. These are important assessments and scholars and parents need to be aware of them. However, these grades should not fail a scholar if you have more than enough grades in your grade book. Below are some examples to help you as we move forward in Q2.
