Colt Weekly Update
Power to Amaze!
Colt Parents,
Week three is in the books. Progress reports will go out on Wednesday. Please be on the lookout for them.
Thank you ensuring your child is in school every day. Our goal is 98.4% as a campus for attendance. It is also very important that your child stay home if they are feeling ill.
A new mask mandate came into effect this week. All students and staff must wear a mask. This is to try and prevent additional breakouts. Also, if you come into close contact with a COVID positive person, please E-swipe and stay home.
Please encourage your child to read a minimum of twenty minutes per day. The library is open and they can check out books to read at home.
On August 30th, students can bring a t-shirt (Dollar Tree has some for $1) and we will use the Cricut to iron on a FREE HP design on them on Monday August 30th during lunch in the library. We are doing this because September 1st marks a very special occasion: the first day of school at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry which is also known as "Hogwarts Day."

Military Families
Desert Wind is a Texas Purple Star Distinction School
We are very excited to announce that Desert Wind is now a Texas Purple Star Distinction School.
The Purple Star Campus Designation recognizes Texas district and charter schools that show their support and commitment to meeting the unique needs of military-connected students and their families.
This special honor was created by the 86th Texas Legislature through SB 1557 and further described in agency rule (19 TAC, § 61.1063), effective April 9, 2020.
In August 2021, TEA will be awarding the Purple Star Campus designation for campuses that apply and meet the established criteria (see below). Campuses that are selected will receive a special Purple Star recognition to display on campus or on the school website. Campuses selected will also have their designation featured on the TxSchools.gov web page.
