Reflection & Metacognition
Dear Cougar Family,
During our faculty meeting on Thursday, we will take a moment to reflect on both our individual instructional goals and the student growth measure process. As professionals, we pause frequently to reflect on our progress, but how often do we provide opportunities for our students to do the same?
These 3 articles provide straightforward strategies to make sure our students have metacognitive and reflective opportunities built into the learning process:
- "Frameworks for Reflection" by Anna Durfee on the Edutopia blog
- "6 Metacognitive Strategies for Middle and High School Classrooms" by Thomas Armstrong from The American Institute on Learning and Human Development
- "Retrieval Practice: The Most Powerful Learning Tool That You're Not Using" by Jennifer Gonzalez on the Cult of Pedagogy blog
Please take a moment to read one of the articles and challenge yourself to include time for students to reflect and self-assess this week.
May you all have an outstanding week!
As always, COUGAR PRIDE!

Holiday Supply Orders
