Important Upcoming Dates

Dear Carman Families -

If you still wish to participate in the Spirit of Giving campaign, your donations will need to be dropped off in the front office at Carman Trails no later than Monday, December 13th. Please send your donation in unwrapped so we can see what else the family might need. Thank you so much for considering this -- you can find the class links below.

We will have an Early Release Day on Wednesday, December 15th - students will be dismissed at 2:00 p.m.

Just a reminder that Carman Trails is once again participating in the Scripps Spelling Bee! Classroom spelling bees will begin the week of December 20th. Spelling Bee practice lists were sent home last week - the lists are a very helpful tool for students while they practice.

Wednesday, December 22nd will be a Half-Day, with dismissal at 1:00 p.m. Students will have their classroom Winter Parties during the day.

Winter Break begins after dismissal on the 22nd and students will return on Wednesday, January 5th, 2022.

With CT Pride,

Dr. Love

SPIRIT OF GIVING 2021

In an effort to show kindness to others, Carman Trails is adopting several Parkway Families for the season. If you are able to help, we have organized a sign up for each grade level. We would really appreciate your kindness. This is also a wonderful learning experience for the children in our classes, so they can learn about the joys of giving and helping others. Please remember that participation is optional. We understand that this time of year is difficult for many and that not everyone is in a position to participate. If you are wanting to donate an item for our Spirit of Giving, please click on the link that has your grade level and sign up for an item of your choosing. When you click on the link below, you will see a list of items families have requested for their children. The number in parenthesis after each item on the wish list is the total # of that item requested. You may sign up for a portion of the number requested by clicking that item and indicating the quantity you would like to provide. *If you notice that your child’s grade level list is filling up or is completely filled, please feel free to click on another grade level to select a gift.

Gift cards are always appreciated. Each family has a spot at the end of their wish list page for “Family Gift” gift cards, if you wish to contribute a gift card. If you would like to send in a cash donation, Carman Trails staff will do the shopping for you and share the gifts with identified families.

It's Time for the Spelling Bee!

We are so excited to once again be participating in the Scripps National Spelling Bee! Classroom spelling bees will take place during the week of December 20th. One winner from each classroom will advance to the school-wide bee on Thursday, January 13th. One winner and one alternate will represent Carman Trails in the St. Louis Semi-final bee in March.

Grade level practice spelling lists will be sent home by Monday, December 6th. If you have any questions or would like additional practice lists, please contact Mrs. Manley at lmanley@parkwayschools.net

PARENTS, PLEASE REMEMBER TO PACK EXTRA CLOTH MASKS FOR YOUR STUDENT

Due to the depleted supply of paper masks that we have left in the building, please remember to have your child wear their mask to school every day as well as bringing an extra cloth mask in their backpack. This is extremely helpful for us as the paper masks tend to come apart during the day. Thank you so much for your help with this matter.

COUGAR COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT

We are so proud of our students here at Carman! This week our Cougar Spotlight shines on Adelyn Raycraft and her younger brother!

The following message was sent in with their nomination: "She and her little brother gathered toys at home and donated them because they wanted children who might not have toys to have them." What a wonderful act of kindness.

Come be a part of our character recognition efforts! Now, whenever you see a student (or staff member) demonstrating character outside of school, you can nominate them using this Google Form - linked here: https://forms.gle/rtmmbkxByyZBRDR17

Nominees will be randomly selected and spotlighted in future Paw Prints and possibly other school communications. By submitting a photo (by choice, not required), you are granting permission for us to use the photo in school-related communications.

Thank you for your help in recognizing and spotlighting character in our students!
