Get Your Summer On!
Specialized Schools....What is going on!?! Yes, it’s summer break and we hope you are enjoying time away from school, but we also want to make sure you are staying connected and productive through healthy activity and interaction.
Can’t find anything productive to do? Not working? Need a change of scenery? The Specialized Schools at Forest View is open from 1:00-3:00 PM next Monday through Thursday for any students who would like to come shoot hoops, play indoor soccer, exercise/work out, play FIFA or NBK 2K on PS4, hang out with friends, meet some new people, etc. Please RSVP at email@example.com.
If you can provide your own transportation, great; arrive when you can but keep in mind we close at 3:00 PM. Email at keir.rogers@d214 or call 847-718-7888 if you need a ride.

Work-Learn-Grow (yes...it's a social emotional learning thing:)
Full transparency, Father's Day is tough for me for obvious reasons, but WELL DONE to the dad's supporting our students with love! (Shout out to all of my "dads" from TV land...Mike Brady, Fred Rogers, and James Evans) I've learned to understand that we can’t have everything we want. I have also learned that some people on this planet don’t have enough literal water to drink, so I'm thankful for what I do have.
People have really struggled over the last year. Some have always struggled. Have you taken time to show gratitude to the people who help you along the way? Gratitude is just one trait that defines social emotional growth, there’s also Self-Control, Respect, Responsibility, Kindness, Empathy, Compassion, Humility, Self-Awareness, Integrity, and Collaboration.
We all need to grow in this area. Me included. I have a summer homework assignment for all of you. Watch the attached video (It's only 11 minutes and worth every second!) entitled Two Strangers Who Meet Five Times, and see if you can determine how the characters either succeed or fail to demonstrate social emotional intelligence through the traits listed above or by showing one of the five social emotional learning skills listed below...
- Social Awareness
- Healthy Relationship Skills
- Responsible Decision Making
How would life be different for either of them?
SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING....Herein lies the answers to the questions of boredom, illegal drug usage and abuse, inequity, racism, and hatred. Not to mention immaturity, road rage, unruly airline passengers, violence, and most other problems plaguing mankind. Grow in these areas, and enlighten your future; it's a choice.

INCOMING FRESHMAN- All incoming freshmen need a school physical dated on or after 8/11/20. Your student's class schedule will not be released and they will be excluded from school until a COMPLETE physical is on file. A complete physical includes up to date
immunizations, a completed health history signed by parents and a completed physical exam signed by your doctor or Nurse Practitioner. A dental exam is also required by April 2022 for all incoming freshmen.
SENIORS- All seniors require proof of completed Meningococcal vaccine series. Your student's schedule will not be released until this information is provided.
Completed forms can be emailed, faxed, mailed, or dropped off at school (your home school or your specialty program).
Please forward a copy of your student's Covid-19 Vaccination Card to the school nurse so we can enter the information in Infinite Campus. While vaccination isn't mandatory for attending school, it's helpful to maintain up to date health records for contact tracing purposes.
