Attendance Reminders
Attendance Reminders
Funding for public schools is based on daily attendance. This year attendance is a special challenge because we have SO many codes to keep track of. I appreciate all that you are doing. Currently, our Cycle 1 Daily average attendance is right at 93%. Let's see if we can get to 95% for Cycle 2.
Attendance actions:
- Mark attendance for every student, every day.
- Check (canvas/SeeSaw/Google Classroom) for overnight logins each morning.
- Make corrections for the previous day attendance every day.
- Call and check on remote students that miss a google meet.
- Skyward automatically marks every student Present. After taking attendance NO student should be in the "Present" column.
- The attendance codes to use are:
- F = F2F
- S= Synchronous (present in a google meet)
- Y= Asynchronous (logged into the computer)
- A = Absent (NO contact with the student on that day.)
I am finding 3 or 4 a day that logged in and should be marked Present Synchronous. This makes a HUGE difference in our daily attendance.
Example: 9/21 - 30 absences =90.6% in attendance. I found 5 students that had logged into canvas that day so now we only have 25 absences changing our daily attendance to 92.1%.
We want our attendance to be as high as possible and that means checking it a couple of times to be sure we didn't miss anyone. Remember that you have 5 days to make corrections without having to notify Jordan or me.
from Jocelyn...Discipline Review
Yay! We successfully navigated all the challenges of cycle 1 without any major behavior incidents. This is a direct reflection of the exceptional job you have done connecting with students and parents.
Before we head into cycle 2, I wanted you to have a few resources to support continued success.
Accessing Review 360:
At the beginning of the year, we asked you to check to make sure you could log in to Review 360. Please let me know if you still cannot access Review 360; this would be all staff (paras included). You must be able to log in to complete the Classroom Management training that is required.
Let’s review a few discipline reminders/items before welcome back more students.
Discipline:
GISD Leveled Discipline Guide
- This is the discipline plan used by the district.
- Please familiarize yourself with this guide; we will use this as a reference point throughout the year.
- It provides specific examples of behavior and appropriate response. (classroom consequence, incident documentation, office referral, etc.)
Review 360 Teacher Training
- This PowerPoint tells you everything you need to know about operating Review360 and its resources.
- It contains videos, click sheets, screenshots, etc. – lots of helpful information!
All of these can be found in our Discipline folder in drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/143w59i8aqwYZL9Igow0901Jrg_mKMo3q
Notes from Jana....
Please remember to include Imagine Math, Imagine Reading, Imagine Language and Literacy in your student’s asynchronous plans each week. Consistent use of these products has been proven to increase academic growth. Let me know if you have any questions. I have tracking sheets available now and more coming if you are interested.
If you are in need of any manipulatives for use in your classroom (under the camera), please email your requests to me. Don’t forget about the Virtual Manipulatives. Here are several links to Virtual Manipulative collections.
And here is a collection of math books for different subjects.

From Nurse Gilbert!
It's so staff can go ahead and sign up for a time for their flu shot. It took me about 15 seconds start to finish. I've also put a consent form in their boxes so all they have to do is sign up online. Day of clinic they will take their consent form and a copy of the front/back of their DL and Insurance card.
