CLDE Update

The department of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education at Lotus is currently preparing students for the annual ACCESS test. All multilingual learners will take this assessment in January when we return from Winter Break. We must work as a team to ensure students are ready to do their best on each test.

We will practice strategies to help students demonstrate their understanding of the English language in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Parents and guardians can ensure students get rest each night and eat breakfast in the morning. If breakfast is not convenient in the morning, it is served daily in the cafeteria. Your child can arrive just 10 minutes early to receive breakfast at school.

Testing will occur throughout the month between January 10 and February 13. Test results will be available in May. As soon as the school receives the score reports, they will be sent home with students. Thank you for teaming up with us for the success of your children.

Lotus first opened its doors in August 2006 with a total of 147 students in grades 6 and 7. Each year after that, its enrollment increased gradually to finally reach over 900 students, with grades spanning from Kindergarten to 12th. In such a diverse and disadvantaged community, for over a decade, Lotus has managed to instill interest in students in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. Today it is one of the most successful schools in Aurora.
