Common Instructional Framework
- What are the learning intentions (connected to the standards; focuses on the learning not the activity; focuses on verbs of learning; expressed as knowledge, skills, or understanding; student-friendly language; informs the success criteria)?
- What is the relevance (life relevance; prior knowledge; links sequentially; etc.)?
- What are possible examples and modeling (scaffolds the learning; seeks to close the learning gap; demonstrates what students need to do to acquire new knowledge and master new skills)?
- How do you check for understanding?
- What is the success criteria (is it linked to the learning intentions; is it clear and specific; is it measurable; is it understandable by all; is it embedded throughout the instruction)?
PBL and UDL are all a part of the Common Instructional Framework

Halloween is a great time to peek students' interest in science. Check out these links below (the last link is high school chemistry). Since these are online resources, check out the activities first and make sure you have the proper set up to carry them out safely. Make sure that you are following proper safety precautions if you choose to use any of these.
