News from Carla

Welcome back to the second quarter! The first quarter was a huge success! It was nice to see so many students meet not only academic goals but social/emotional goals as well. Because I am new to CPSC, the first quarter provided me the opportunity to get to know the students and families that make up the heart of CPSC. It has been a delight learning and growing with the students during the first quarter. I would like to thank everyone for all the hospitality and kindness they have shown me since I started working at CPSC. A big thank you to my coworkers, CPSC families, and the children, who have made my transition into this new role as the K-4 grade counselor such a delight. I could not feel more at home. I am so thankful for the privilege to work for such a great school full of such talented learners.

I’m looking forward to an exciting second quarter! I will be facilitating several small groups in the coming weeks. Coping strategies, problem solving, impulse control, friendship skills, leadership skills, and strengthening social skills are just a few of the areas that small groups will be addressing. I have several students that I meet with individually on a weekly basis to address certain social and emotional needs. If you feel your child may benefit from counseling please reach out and let me know. As a counselor, I hope to help nurture and support the healthy development of all students so that they are able to be the very best that they can be!

Please take advantage of the counseling services that Katrina and I have to offer. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

Warmest regards,

Carla

News from Katrina

We had an exciting first quarter at Hunt Street! Students and staff members became comfortable in a new space that is feeling more and more like home. In the second quarter electives will change, routines will be reinforced, we will continue to focus on community-building, and academics will become more rigorous.

In the school counseling program, I will begin several small groups to provide support for students who share similar challenges and to develop skills for coping with these challenges. If you feel that your child might benefit from increased support around social skills, organization, managing stress or anger, or family changes please let me know.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, or if I can help support your child or family in any way.

My hours at school are 11-3 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and 8-12 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Happy fall!
