Join us at the Walled Lake Schools Community-Wide Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration, Monday, January 20, 2020
The 21st annual Walled Lake Schools community-wide Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration is planned for Monday, January 20, 2020, from 5:00 - 7:30 p.m., at Walled Lake Northern High School. The celebration will begin with a multicultural dinner from 5:00-6:00 p.m. with food from a wide variety of ethnic restaurants. During the dinner, participants will visit student displays from each of our 19 schools, focusing on our theme, “Look Within: Be the Change You Wish to See in the World.” WLCSD’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration is made possible thanks to generous donations from the PTA/PTSA groups from across our district, the DTE Energy Foundation, the Walled Lake School Administrators Association, the Walled Lake Schools Federal Credit Union, and the Meemic Insurance Company.
From 6:15 - 7:30 p.m. there will be a program in the auditorium, featuring keynote speaker, Dr. Jay Marks, a Diversity and Equity Consultant with Oakland Schools. Dr. Marks is known for his work in the areas of Social Justice, Cultural Competence, Courageous Conversations about Race, Culturally Responsive Teaching, Educating African American Males, Student Engagement, and Differentiated Instruction. Dr. Marks will speak about this year’s theme, “Look Within: Be the Change You Wish to See in the World.” Several student choirs will perform, students will present their “Express Yourself” projects, and the Walled Lake Schools Alec Bender Friend of Diversity Awards will be presented.
Everyone in the community is invited to the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration. This program, including dinner, is free. Donations of canned food, boxed food, laundry detergent, and household paper products for Hospitality House will be accepted.

I know some people prefer PayPal but I had a few issues with it last year- people indicated paying for a "service" and because I don't use PayPal ofter they don't identify me as a "seller" and they held the payment for 30 days- which required me to front the payment.
